Core Convictions

  • All creation is sacred.
  • All creation is connected and interdependent.
  • All is alive. All is connected. All is intelligent. All is family.
  • Responding to a changing climate begins with falling in love with a part of creation.
  • Kith-ship (intimacy with place) enlivens kin-ship (relationship with neighbor)
  • Neighbor includes more than human.
    • Neighbors are also trees and volcanos and critters and land, whales, fish and coral and water, birds and bees and air, sun and moon and stars, all of creation.
    • When asked what is the greatest commandment, Jesus answered, “The first is ‘Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one’; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” – Deuteronomy 6:4ff, Matthew 22:26ff, Luke 10:25ff, and Mark 12:29ff
  • The more we know about how we have been uniquely created and connected, the more we will be able to be who God has created us to be for the life of the world.
